Thyatira ~ A Tolerant Church

You’ve Got Mail…What Jesus says to the churches

The trade was coming to them and they were becoming prosperous. Partying and immoral lifestyle become their way…Compromise, compromise (Rev. 2:18-29)

What is said about Jesus?

These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire (they are piercing), and His feet like fine brass (His footing is firm) (v.18).

He cares for us in the midst of difficulties. He holds our lives ~ He won’t drop us when we need Him to hold us.

What is said about the church?

He knows your work, love, service,  faith, and your patience, and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nonetheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent (vs. 19-21).

Don’t follow Jezebel’s teaching of adultery, sexual immorality, or idol worship (vs. 22-23). Don’t drop your guard in the midst of your faith journey.

Going through a season of life with all going well may be an expression of God’s patience (grace) and not His blessing.

He is waiting for us to REPENT. This says Jesus is so full of love and grace, He has patience with us. We CANNOT be engaged in “the world” and God’s both.

The challenge of faithful Christian’s? Hold fast what you have till I come (v.25).

Balance the truth and be tolerant ~ because Jesus sure does.  Grace, grace and more grace.

Truth without tolerance equals legalism…So about rules they forget about God’s love. People without joy, hateful, always measuring people, deceptive. Good on the outside, rotten on the inside.

Tolerance without truth equals compromise…tolerant, everythings just fine. So open minded their brains fall out.

Truth with tolerance equals balance…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

So, how do we balance the two?

1. Is this a major or minor issue according to the Bible? Don’t major on the minors.

Principle: In major issues have unity. In minor issues have diversity. In all issues show grace.

2. Do you have a Biblical conviction about the issue? Know what God’s Word says.

Principle: If its doubtful, its dirty. God with what and how God convicts you (Romans 14:5-22).

3. How will your decision impact an immature believer? We are not an island of ourselves.

Principle: I have a responsibility to others.

4. Will this reflect my love for the Lord?

Principle: I must remember whose I am, then consider if an activity or attitude will demonstrate my love for jesus.

5. What would my spiritual role model do? WWJD…What Would Jesus Do?

Principle: Spend time with mature Christians

The incredible reward? I will give them the morning star (v. 28).

Jesus Christ Himself is the morning star. “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star (Rev. 22:16).

What role of influence can you play in another person’s life? Ask God to use you and that you will not compromise God’s truth of Jesus.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches (v.29).

God’s truth is still the truth no matter what society says or does…

God's forgiveness

Don’t cease abiding in His love, and don’t drift away from an intimate relationship with Him. Its time to heed the still small voice within!!

Don’t go to the pigpen, that place of shame and self-condemnation! For the only place my needs will be met is in my Father’s embrace.

Realize my error and motives ~ change anything that’s not comfortable with love. True repentance involves a change of heart and change in actions.

Change my heart attitude from selfishness to brokenness and humility as I realize, no matter how much I fail, my PaPa’s waiting for me with out stretched arms!

When I’m faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. (2Timothy 2:13)

When I fail, He doesn’t approach me with a heavy rod of correction, He runs to me, ready to welcome me back into His embrace with all the fullness of His forgiveness and love.

He exchanges my fig leaves of shame (fear, insecurity, guilt, loneliness, escapism, anxiety, failure) for a royal robe of righteousness. He places His ring back on my finger, restoring me to the place of full sonship in His household.

My child, I love you. I live to take away your shame. Everything is going to be alright. Experience My compassion, My love!

It’s difficult to process PaPa’s love as fast as I want to because there is often hindrances that slow me down, pride, counterfeit affections, hidden core pain from the past, unforgiveness, shame, unresolved conflicts, and judgmentalism that I think I have put all these issues behind me.

I need to let PaPa’s love begin to lift me above the circumstances that have held me back from experiencing intimacy and love.

A river always flows to the lowest point. It flows to those who have been deeply wounded by the sins of others and those whose sins have left them clothed with guilt and shame. It flows most freely to those who are meek and lowly of heart, and who will come to the Father like a little child in need of Daddy’s comforting love.

The heart of the Father is always responsive to those who truly turn to Him, no matter how far from Him I have strayed or how wicked and depraved I might be.

He forgave the people of Nineveh and welcomed them into His presence. (Jonah 3-4)

Jack Winter wrote in his book The Homecoming, “Servant can only bring others to a master, sons are the ones who can point others to their father.”

Until I let go of striving, jealousy, and rivalry in my heart, I’ll lead a life of frustration and resentment.

The love of God is a gift, it’s free and undeserved. There is nothing I can do to be loved by Him any more than I already am, and there’s nothing I can do to lessen His love. His love is unconditional, but if its not experienced on a level that brings healing to the childhood hurt and anger at not feeling unconditionally loved, a resentment and critical attitude often results.

PaPa, I’m aware of my sins…pride, envy, resentment, jealousy, anger, spiritual ambition, self-righteousness, sin against love, worry, doubt, gossip, self-love, lying…I repent and ask Your forgiveness, and I receive that forgiveness. I allow Your Spirit to transform my nature and character.

I anticipate the homecoming You have planned for me. Thank You for understanding my hidden core issues, my need for affirmation that stems from issues in my childhood. Thank You that You see the secret place in my heart that cries out for the unconditional love of a father, for the affirmation and affection that only You can provide. Thank You that Your compassion and mercy are available to me and that You long to bring me back to Your house to join in the celebration and the joy of the feast. Thank You that You are not ashamed of me or angry at my misrepresentation of Your love. Thank You that You want me in Your loving embrace.

Restore to me the joy of my salvation. I want to serve You with a pure heart motivated by Your love and compassion for others.

Embracing My Heavenly Father

Father embrace

What does a father’s embrace feel like? What is a father’s love? How do I accept or receive it when I don’t know what its like? I vaguely remember my earthly daddy, he went to heaven when I was four years old. What I do remember is his hugs, the smile he always had on his face, laughter, and he always read us stories. I don’t even remember what stories they were, by I sure remember him reading to us and always laughing.

The two step father’s we had were not involved in us kids or any of our activities as we were growing up. Momma was though. She made sure we were loved and well cared for! She made sure we had what we needed ~ including love.

So my journey begins…Being still (which is hard for me to do, I’m a Martha, Martha type gal), so I can seek a fresh insight into the spiritual (Biblical) conception of God as a Father…Seek, and ye shall find…A father’s love and a father’s relationship.

I long to know Him more fully as my PaPa, my Daddy. I long to know the true loving nature of God as Father. I want to come into a life transforming relationship with the One who loves me so passionately! Uncommon love is His gift to me in Christ. He has dealt with my past and He owns my future!

I want to encounter His unconditional affection and feel His unconditional acceptance. I want to hear His tender words of love in deeper ways than I have ever known. I want to live in the present moment filled and surrounded with uncommon love. I want to feel free to “relax” in PaPa’s embrace. Relax? I’m a Martha, remember J

Being a Martha type person it isn’t easy to “be still,” I seem to have to be “doing” something all the time. Larry says he only sees me relax when I’m sleeping…

So it’s a real discipline and lots of praying for me to be still. But its something my Daddy wants me to do so I can be free from all the strongholds holding me from accepting and receiving His love for me.

Move over Mary, here I come, to sit at the feet of Jesus.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

After much prayer, Papa revealed to me that my biggest hindrance to believing that He really loves me is ~ fear and rejection.

So, how can I accept and receive Father God’s love so that I can give it to others?

BELIEVE, TRUST = FAITH

Father God, I ask for a deeper revelation of you and your love…actually experiencing your love breaking forth in my areas of need…Give me a fresh revelation of your power and grace. In Jesus name, thank You. Amen & Amen

LET THIS JOURNEY BEGIN PAPA…

My child, You are the one I love, and on You My favor rests. (Mark 1:11) You were created by God to receive and express love. You have closed your heart to love so you can’t feel the pain that throbs inside your soul.

Love is not about what you do, but who you are.

My love for you is deeper than you could ever imagine! Your mind needs to be renewed by the Holy Spirit until you can truly say as John declared; “And I have come to know (experience) and have believed the love which God has for me. God is love.” (1 John 4:16)

Father God takes delight in you and thinks good thoughts about you all the time. (Jeremiah 29:11) He feels nothing but perfect love when He thinks about you. Love thinks no evil. (1 Cor. 13:5)
