Father ~ Child Relationship

Jesus laughing with child

Unresolved father issues can be a major cause of emotional pain in adulthood. Adult pain is often wired to childhood pain. The majority of a child’s identity is formed through the father~child relationship. When the relationship becomes skewed (altered) children may grow up with difficulties relating to other male authority figures in life.

Issues we have with our earthly father’s can easily transfer to the relationship we have with our Heavenly Father.

The father issues we have may be conscience or unconscious…until they are resolved through an experiential revelation of God’s love, we will have difficulty experiencing the comforting, affectionate love that He has for us.

Our anger, fear and distrust, often rooted in my hidden core pain, easily spills over into other areas of our life ~ our marriage, families, career, ministry, and our walk with God. The effects can greatly hinder a life of intimacy and love.

Holy Spirit, please reveal to me any unresolved, hidden issues I may still have with my earthly father that may be affecting my ability to relate to You, my Heavenly Father, and to receive His affectionate love. Thank You. Amen & Amen.

Having had passive and absentee father’s, I face abandonment and rejection issues, therefore, I’m having a difficult time relating to my Heavenly PaPa. There is a deep sense of fear that at some point, He may not be there for me just as my earthly father’s weren’t. So, I find myself striving to please Him in order to appease an unconscious guilt.

But…PaPa God’s Word says; “I will never leave you nor forsake you!” (Hebrews 13:5)
