Don’t Waste Your Pain

father-embrace2

God blessed those who are persecuted because they live for God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. (Matthew 5:10)

My suffering will help others if I’m willing to share four things:

1) How pain got my attention…”Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to have remorse and change your ways.” (2 Corinthians 7:9)

The key: Be Real

* Be open with my feelings…”Oh dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you. Our hearts are open to you.” (2Corinthians 6:11)

* Be humble about my faults…”Each of us must bear the faults and burdens of his own. For none of us is perfect.” (Galatians 6:5)

* Be frank about my failures…”Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners~of whom I am the worst.” (1 Timothy 1:15)

* Be honest about my frustrations…”No matter which way I turn, I can’t make myself do right. I want to, but I can’t. When I want to do good, I don’t. And when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway.” (Romans 7:18-19)

* Be candid about my fears…”I am afraid that when I come to visit you I won’t like what I find, and then you won’t like my response.” (2 Corinthians 12:20)

2) What lessons I’ve learned…”We do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia; that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaird even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us…” (2 Corinthians 1:8-10)

* I learned to obey God’s Word…”The suffering You sent was food for me, for it taught me to pay attention to Your principles.” (Proverbs 119:71)

* I learned I need other people…”But in relationships among the Lord’s people, women are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women.” (1Corinthians 11:11) and (Ecclesiatses 4:9-10)

3) How God is bringing good out of bad…”And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

4) How Jesus gave you hope to change…But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you.” (1Peter 3:15)

“When they call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them.” (Psalm 91:15
